He set out to write a commentary on the entire Bible, but sadly, he never finished it. Even more sadly, not all of his commentary that he did finish has been translated into English — or at least wasn’t last time I checked, which was a while ago.

It is frustrating to have people ask your advice and then argue with you about it. Some people just like to argue, and it makes no difference what it’s about, as long as they get the thrill of being contrary. Others just want to have sunshine blown up their skirts. Since I have a professional obligation to give clients my honest assessment of their case, and also to tell them all their options and the consequences of choosing one over the others, I have no choice but to tell them a bunch of things they don’t want to hear. Then they accuse me of being in cahoots with the prosecution.

When people try to argue with me about my advice, I just tell them, look, this is my advice: you can take it or you can leave it, but there’s no point in arguing with me about it.Anita Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11305092097247290243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31669215.post-65882557041565887572020-01-22T17:06:09.729-07:002020-01-22T17:06:09.729-07:00"I have mentioned previously in this space my..."I have mentioned previously in this space my frustration with people who will not listen to my legal opinions or take my advice when these don’t chime with what they want to hear."

My stock answer when someone asks me something (of which I may have more than a whiff of expertise) is, "Do you really want an answer or do you just want to argue?" I got very weary of having people immediately challenge me and having to say, "Why did you ask?"

That being said, I am also tres weary of all the Catholic "experts" and the very large group of "professional" Catholics. I read almost none of them. Ever so often I'll check in on Ms Barnhardt to see what she's currently ranting about. About the only site I frequent with some regularity is The Remnant. I very fond of Michael Matt. And I also like to listen to the sermons of Fr. Chad Ripperger.

I'd much rather be reading the commentary of Cornelius A Lapide. ;-) Adriennehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01562944653624224107noreply@blogger.com
