In China, political dissent is a crime, and those who are accused of crimes have no right to due process. And your point is...?
Today we find out that at the Olympic opening ceremonies, the Chi-Coms faked a performance by a cute little girl in pigtails, who lip-synched a patriotic song as the Communist flag was brought into the arena. The world rises to its feet in indignation.
What a blow to the image of Red China.

ReplyDeleteThe fawning coverage the Today show is giving the ChiComms is sickening, but hardly surprising.
Their medals for gymnastics should be revoked...but then again, the olympics shouldn't be in China to begin with.
ReplyDeleteI was talking with a friend the other night about the Olympics, and about, what if I was an athlete? Even GOING there would be a moral dilemma. But I came to the conclusion, even knowing the work and sacrifice to even have the chance to compete, I think if I went, I'd be selling my soul. Because I'd know that I would be competing under the flag of the nation waving proudly in the same crimson hue of the very blood of its own people.
ReplyDeleteI would think that if athletes took a united stand and refused to compete in such a venue, the stand would echo throughout history.
Instead..well..it's Nazi Germany all over again.
There's a lot of propaganda out there even from good Catholics saying, "well, it doesn't HAVE to be political."
The reality is that the Olympics ARE political, and the athletes are pawns. No, that's NOT the way it's supposed to be, but it's the way it IS.
The problem is that we can't live surrounded in our own preferred view; we have to see things as they are and quit talking ourselves out of reality.
God love the people of China...and damn the government.
