R. And may perpetual light shine upon him.
V. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.
R. Amen.

Prayer to St. Genesius, Patron of Actors

Dear Genesius, according to a very ancient story, when you were still a pagan, you once ridiculed Christ while acting on the stage. But, like Saul on the road to Damascus, you were floored by Christ's powerful grace. You rose bearing witness to Jesus and died a great martyr's death. Intercede for your fellow actors before God that they may faithfully and honestly perform their roles and so help others to understand their role in life and thus enabling them to attain their end in heaven. Amen.

  1. Sometimes Christians tend to look down on acting, but it is an occupation that can have an immense influence for the good as well as bad. I am glad you mention the patron saint of actors, and recognize the passing of CH. Thanks, Jim

  2. This was a man who had a wonderful work ethic. He was such a professional. I wonder how many of today's "stars" would work as hard as he did? When he made Ben-Hur, they were supposed to learn how to drive the chariots. He was the only one who showed up for those lessons and stuck with them. The result is exciting to watch, no matter how many times you've seen it. Definitely a man to admire. A hero on many levels.
