Adopt a Cardinal!

Well, no, not this kind of cardinal.  THIS kind:

This is Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako, Archbishop of Khartoum, whom I have adopted.  Cardinal Wako has been the Archbishop of Khartoum, Sudan since 1981.  He just celebrated his 72nd birthday on February 27th, and will celebrate his 50th anniversary of ordination in July of this year.  He received the Red Hat in 2003, and was the target of a Muslim assassination attempt in 2010, while celebrating Sunday Mass.

We can't, of course, vote in the upcoming conclave, but we can pray for the cardinal electors who do bear that heavy responsibility.  Adopt a Cardinal will assign you a cardinal elector to pray and offer sacrifices for in the days leading up to the election of a new Holy Father, and for three days following the election.  You can offer any kind of prayers and sacrifices you want for your cardinal.  I am offering my daily Offices and Friday abstinences for Cardinal Wako's intention during the interregnum, and for the three days after the new Holy Father is elected.

If you want to do your bit, in an authentically Catholic way, to assist in the selection of a new Pope, this is it!
