Visiting the Orphans and Widows

So is Pope Benedict's forthcoming apostolic constitution poaching? Sheep-stealing? "Fishing in the Anglican pond?"

Or could it be the rescue of the survivors of the shipwreck that is the Anglican communion? Could it be the shelter and care of the numberless orphans and widows of an organization that, bereft of an infallible teaching authority, bears less and less of a resemblance to Christianity? Could it be an act of obedience to Christ's injunction to be "fishers of men"?

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

James 1:27

  1. Love your blog! I live and work in Washington, D.C. in the political sphere. I check your blog every day and it's a dose of faith and common sense that helps steel me for the madness and perversity I have to deal with every day (including the Obama White House on many issues).

Did you see this story in the Times of London? As many as 1,000 Anglican priests in the UK are ready to jump! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article6883151.ece?&EMC-Bltn=FBLHMB.

God bless and keep up the good work!

  2. One more thing -- if you want to read one particular blog that drives the Obama White House nuts in particular, here it is:

Written by a fellow Catholic here in Washington who reads your blog, too!

  4. I hope this serves as a foreshadowing of other Christian sects as almost all other denominations become increasingly "liberal"...

  5. The Pope's actions are the end result of the request for corporate reunification which came from the Traditional Anglican Communion (400,000 members). I hope they and entire African nations come home, as well as the smattering of still-Christian Anglicans in the first world.

  6. The orphan analogy is bang on.

For decades so-called ecumenism has taken place under the control of liberals. Talk, talk and more talk - bureaucracy ad infinitum. Nothing done... and the moral degradation continued, and heresies grew ever more, spanning throughout the land (forgive that last, somewhat cheezy statement - "the land" - but I like it)

And now, HHB16, effectively by-passing all of these antinomian buffoons, including liberal Catholic bishops (he had to, otherwise nothing would have been done), builds a bridge across the Tiber for those poor souls still paying the price of the abominations committed by Henry VIII.

There is a lot of talk of the "insignificant" number of Anglicans that will be "poped". However, I think this is a gross underestimation. This brilliant move by HHB16 will set all kinds of good things into motion, bringing many others into the true fold that is the Catholic Church. That's my take.

Time, a very good truth teller, will tell...

There are indeed those who speak of this as Anglicanism's death blow.
