Seriously...

Joe Biden has announced that he would advise family members to avoid commercial aircraft and subways on account of the swine flu virus. Said the Vice President on the Today show: “I would tell members of my family – and I have – I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now. It’s not that it’s going to Mexico. It’s [that] you’re in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. That’s me...So, from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation. If you’re out in the middle of a field when someone sneezes, that’s one thing. If you’re in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it’s a different thing.”

The White House apparently finds these comments embarrassing, as they are afraid they will touch off mass panic that would paralyze the nation. But:

-- Does anybody seriously believe Joe Biden doesn't already avoid commercial flights and subways?

-- Does anybody seriously believe Joe Biden would not continue to avoid commercial flights and subways even in the absence of swine flu?

-- Does anybody seriously believe anybody goes to Joe Biden for advice on anything?

  2. Isn't having Joe Biden as our vice president good for the country's piety?

I know I offer extra prayers for the health and well-being of President Obama.

  3. The question really is: do the rest of us want to be on an airplane with Joe Biden?? I fear he'd suck all the oxygen out of the cabin talking... There is a famous story that goes around Washington DC of a group of senators (including Jabbery Joe)who went to tour the situation in Afghanistan. AS the plane took off, JJ started telling a story and was close to finishing it when they landed in Kabul... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...
